Unknown de la Haye

(Abt 1355 - Bef 1390)

Biography
The lady was born about 1355. She is the daughter of Sir Thomas Hay and Elizabeth Stewart, a daughter of King Robert II.#S-5 Balfour Paul; Volume 7, page 269 and also noted in Vol 3, page 562 (Erroll) She is stated to be a younger sister of Elizabeth and likely born and married around the same time. She was certainly married prior to 1376 as discharge for her tocher is dated 12 July 1376. She is said to have "married a son of Sir Andrew Leslie of that Ilk" and Norman is the only known son.
Nothing is known about her life with Norman and it seems improbable that she was long lived. She is not mentioned by name on any Charter raised by the family although one Charter discusses the fact that she had children. It is not known how many children they had but one survived to adulthood.
: David Leslie, who will inherit the estates from his grandfather. It seems he departed Scotland at an early age "engaged in the holy wars" and "for so long it was believed he was dead"#S-26 Leslie, Charles Joseph; Volume 1, page 33 but this seems, given his age, exaggerated. He could only have been born about 1375 and thus only 24 when he inherits in 1398. It certainly seems likely that he continued the relationships with the European armies started by Sir Walter Leslie, and continued through later generations.
