== Biography ==Katherina von Kleve (Catherine of Cleves) was the second daughter of [[Kleve-68|Adolf I, Duke of Cleves]] and his second wife, [[Bourgogne-286|Marie de Bourgogne]], and was born on St Vrbaens day, the 25 May, in 1417.Scholten, Robert (Ed.). 1884. She was promised in marriage, the 22 July 1423, to Arnold of Egmond, Duke of Guelders, Count of Zutphen,Chestret de Haneffe, Baron Jules de. 1898. On 23 August 1429 an agreement was reached, that Catherine would continue to remain with her parents for another year, but whether the year is from that date or after she was married is also unclear. A dispensation was issued on 23 January 1530 because Catherine and Arnold were related in the fourth degree,''Clevische Chronik'', p. but they were definitely married by 11 February 1430 when they both signed an act in which Catherine renounced any hereditary rights to Cleves.
