== Biography ==
All that is known about the wife of Thomas Stiles and mother of 4 men who immigrated to the American colonies, is that her first name was Mary. This is based on the baptism records in Millbrook, Bedfordshire. The transcript of Millbrook parish register can be found at https://archive.org/details/bedfordshirepari20bedf/page/n15; Two other Stylles baptisms in 1604/5 and 1607 show parents as Thomas and Mary, not Maria, so this presumably is where Mary comes from. The first child of Thomas Stylles to be baptsied in Millbrook was in 1591/2 so presumably the marriage took place before this but I can find no marriage in Bedfordshire, where all marriages pre 1813 are on FamilySearch. Additional information provided by [[Cooper-13819|David Cooper]] in December 2018 when asked about the source for Mapley as her maiden name: Mary Mapley was allegedly born in Millbrook in 1563. As there's no marriage in Millbrook it must be questionable that Mary was from that parish, particularly as there are no Mapley entries at all in Millbrook. The birth date shown of 1563 is just a guess as the earliest entries in Millbrook parish register are 1564. Thomas and Mary were buried within a fortnight of each other at Millbrook in 1614/15.

With no marriage found for them, it's impossible to know who she was. The baptisms of two of the children give the parents as Thomas and Mary. With no marriage in Millbrook, the baptism register only starting in 1564 and no Mapley entries at all in Millbrook it's difficult to understand where her alleged name has come from. Unless someone has a source it would be sensible to amend her name to Mary, LNAB Unknown, Current LN Stylles.
