Individual Details
Annabel Sinclair
(Abt 1269 - Bef 1304)
==Biography==
*Annabella is known to have married Sir Robert Bisset from which there were no known children. Bisset must have died around 1290/95 when she is granted lands by Sir David Wemyss. This is suggested to have been a marriage but may not have been. WikiTree currently records two children from this relationship both boys; Michael and John. If you know any different please add to the bio.
== Events ==*There is little recorded about Annabel Sinclair. The following material is contained in The Scots Peerage and, if wishing to add to it, please quote an original source. [http://db.poms.ac.uk/record/person/17149/ Annabelle Sinclair] is definitively identified in the dataset of the People of Medieval Scotland.
*She is known to have married a Sir Robert Bisset, Knight.[[#S-1]] Balfour Paul; Vol 6, pg 565 Although his name is recorded there is little mentioned of him to date although there is a Sir William Bisset present at a witness to the Charter, by David of Wemyss [[#S-2]] PoMS; quoting the Wemyss manuscript, ii, no.3 (http://db.poms.ac.uk/record/source/7137/) suggesting he was his son. It certainly seems probable that he was born around 1260/65 and thus married around 1285/90. Annabel would have been younger than 20 judging by the fact that she gave children to her second marriage. There is no mention of a Sir Robert of that name on the Homage Rolls of 1291 or 1296 although there are four of that surname on the 1296 Roll. This suggests that Sir Robert was dead before 1296.
*This aligns with The Scots Peerage, under Sir David Wemyss[[#S-1]] Balfour Paul; Vol 8, pg 478/9, where he provides for "Annabella" Sinclair through the grant of land as "widow of Sir Robert Bisset". This clearly suggests that Bisset was one of his knights and/or that Sir David Wemyss was having a relationship with Annabella Sinclair. The dates of these grants, between 1290 and 1296, corroborate the above.
*This transaction is recorded in dataset of the People of Medieval Scotland[[#S-2]] PoMS; quoting the Wemyss manuscript, ii, no.3 (http://db.poms.ac.uk/record/source/7137/) and is extensive. In this, David of Wemyss, stated to be son and heir to Sir Michael of Wemyys, provides for Annabelle extensive lands and the service of two free tenants within the barony of Lochore, that is Constantine of Lochore and Adam of Lochgelly. It seems, from this grant that David of Wemyss must have inherited Lochore on the death of his mother as these are not hereditary Wemyss lands.
*Annabel is stated to have died before 1304,[[#S-1]] Balfour Paul; Vol 8, pg 478/9 where he quotes Wemyss Memorials, ii. 5. the date at which Sir David Wemyss marries Marjory Ramsay, the daughter of Walter Ramsay.
