=Biography=
John Stewart was the son of Sir Alan Stewart of Dreghorn and Marion Cameron. As Sir John Stewart of Cruikston and Darnley, he was held hostage for the Earl of Moray in 1340.
In 1356, Robert, High Steward of Scotland, granted a charter of his lands to John and his male issue, whom failing this to his brothers, Walter and Alexander.
He died before 15 Jan 1369, having had two sons:

* 1. John, a hostage in July 1354 - August 1357
* 2. Robert, hostage in October 1357,
both of whom died without issue.
