== Biography ==
Also called Gartnait. Gartney/Gratney, Sheriff Aberdeenshire 1297; married Christian Bruce, sister of Robert I who granted her the lands of Garioch for her life, but whereby the Earls of Mar acquired the feudal Lordship of Garioch (not a peerage dignity) and were even latterly styled "Earls of Garioch".
