== Biography ==
James Stewart was the third, of four, natural sons of [[Stewart-1001|Robert II Stewart]] and his mistress [[Cardny-1|Marion de Cardny]].
In 1371 James was granted, by his father, "the eastern half of the lands of Kinfauns, from the estate of the monastery of Scone. The west half of the estate was granted to his younger brother, [[Stewart-7700|Walter Stewart]].
James was keeper of Edinburgh Castle in 1398 but he died without issue.
