12th child
They had 4 children.Born in Utica township, Indiana, Ella Frances (Fannie) married John
Wesley Seamster, a railroad fireman, in 1883. There are at least two
stories about what happened to her husband. He either died when his
children were very small ( about 1891) or Fannie divorced John. In the
later case of divorce, it was told that Fannie's father, Joshua Bennett
suggested the divorce from John Seamster and provided a little house for
Fannie's family. It seems that John Seamster was a railroad man and was
rarely home.
Another version is that John Seamster was overcome by the
responsibilities of fatherhood and took off leaving the family to fend
for itself. In any case, grandfather Joshua Bennett helped Ella Frances
with the raising of her family.
Fannie earned her living as a seamstress. Sometime in about the early
1900s, Fannie married George Stuart and moved with him and daughter Alta
to Warren, Ohio where George had a job. Her husband died in 1916. Fanny
moved to Cleveland and worked as a maid at the Statler Hotel in downtown
Cleveland. She died of cancer in Cleveland, Ohio in 1928. She is buried
in Union Cemetery near Charlestown, Indiana.
