The Gustine Courson Weaver "Howard Linage" (1929) has Richard the son of William and Elizabeth (Henshaw) Duckett, of Hartssham, co.Wilts, ENG., which would then connect out Duckets back to the time of Henry III. But this connection is unproven. In fact, Floyd Duckett's "Duchetianna" (1874) fails to show a William who was the son of a Richard. Richard & Elizabeth (Henshaw) Duckett appear to have had only one son Lyonel. No mention is made of a Richard. And Richard had no sons named William, which would be unusual. Another theory is that he was the son of a Jacob Duccatt of Anne Arundell Co., who was the son of a Jacob Deuhataway [Denhataway], immigrant from the Netherlands, but wills of both give no hint of a son Richard.
