Columbus Prater,
Columbus Prater, 80, Newcomerstown Route 3, died at 1:15 a.m. today at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient five days.
He was born June 29, 1886 in Pike County, KY., a son of Jackson and Melvina Prater and was married Dec. 25, 1911 to Nora Green who survives. Mr. Prater was a retired employee of the Heller Tool Co. in Newcomerstown and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, survivors are five daughters Mrs. Kelsy Blankenship, Pawpaw, Ky., Mrs. Lurie Nesselrode, Plainfield, Mrs. Ople Prater of the home, Mrs. Nancy Nesselrode, Canton and Mrs. Katheryn Barker,Clarksburg, W.Va; three sons, Roy, Newcomerstown Route 3, Luther, West Lafayette, and Andrew Prater, Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Young, Columbus, and Mrs Nancy Hanworth, Allentown, Pa.; one brother, Godfrey Prater, Grundy, VA; 43 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Three sons, three brothers and one sister.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Coshocton County.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be 7 to 9 pm. Saturday and Sunday.
