Frances Mae WELLS
(10 Apr 1891 - Abt Jan 1989)
In a letter written Tuesday, Sept 27, 1977 in Albany, Fan discusses the area and her family:
"I'll try to get a letter written before it gets scorching hot. September most gone and we still have 104 degree temperature - even the nights are hot & no rain. There's a little breeze now, but at 2:00 A.M it was sultry hot, so I got up. I keep a can of water in a tree at the back of the house, for the birds. I went out and refilled it with fresh water and they are coming to drink. The card with the woman on it I sent came from a box of cards you sent me. Thanks fro the stamps you sent Lafayette and other. You asked where the Moores lived - Ohio, don't you know I told you that you lived in your Gran's native state and John Godfrey Moore - Momas father had a business - was a wagon & carriage maker - even ground his own paints. Grandmother Moore was an orphan reared by a wealthy couple -- I've told you this before......"
Never marrying, she left her interest in the mineral rights on her father's property to her nieces Alice Ray Wilson Garrison, and Margaret Jeane Wilson Kelso. There are Oil fields in this area, and Ray and Jeane's descendants have interest in this now, but little income is generated.
