Individual Details

Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" PRATER

(May 1797 - 1882)

It has been handed down in the family that her first son, Elijah was born out of wedlock. He was said to be the son of David Picklesimer, who did not marry Sally until much later in life. Elijah went to live with his Uncle William Prater at about the age of 15. In 1832 Sarah gave permission for her son Elijah Prater to marry Jemima Patrick. He is probably the man listed in the 1850 census of Madison Co, AR, Heilburn Twp, family #226. Elijah was mentioned in his grandfather, Archibald Prater's Will... "Elijah Prater, son of my daughter Sally."
