On 21 Oct 1979, I interviewed Effie Wampler Prather (age 88 at the time) in her home on Mai n Street in Wheatland, Knox Co., IN.

Effie said that William Isaac Prather had a brother named Sam who was a doctor as well as ano ther brother, Eli, who lived between Wheatland and Bicknell. This Eli is supposedly the on e who took in my great-grandmother, Louisa Williamson, after her mother, Minerva Jane Prathe r Williamson, died.

Effie said that Samuel A. Prather, MD, was born 30 Jan 1874 and died 18 Feb 1946, and she tho ught he was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Vincennes, Knox Co., IN. She said he had lived a t 1516 N. 2nd St. in Vincennes. I question the date of his birth being the 30th because hi s mother, Nancy Hawkins Prather, died 14 Jan 1874. It would seem that the mother died as a r esult of childbirth which would put Samuel's date of birth at 14 Jan 1874 (or before) rathe r than 30 Jan 1874.
