Sveva Orsini

Sueva was the daughter of Niccolo Orsini, conte di Nola, and Giovanna de Sabran. In 1371 Pope Gregory XI granted Sueva the privilege of entering any monastery twice a year, a rare concession to a woman which was granted usually only to the queen or the wife of a greater lord in whose lands the monastery was found. In 1381 she married Francesco del Balzo, duca d'Andria, son of Bertrand III del Balzo, conte d'Andria et Squillace, and Margherita d'Alneto. They had a son and daughter who would have progeny. In her husband's will, dated 23 April 1422, she was mentioned as his third wife and mother of his heir Guglielmo. Sueva died after 1422.
