Opal Elmary Long, 80, formerly of Abilene and Midland, died Sunday, March 12 in Tulsa, Okla. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 17 in Potosi Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Mosley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, March 17 at the funeral home.
She was a native of Abilene and was born Oct. 17, 1925 to Minnie and Willie Boiles. She was a 1943 graduate of Wylie High School and married Eldred Long Feb. 4, 1944. They lived in both Abilene and Midland for several years. She had been cafeteria manager for school systems and was a member of First Baptist Church in Westbrook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Nettles of Midland and Joyce Ann Boatwright of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Vernilee Jones of Odessa; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
