Banks Dies At Age 64
Gerson L. Banks, 64, of Kirkland, a retired grain and coal dealer and retired farmer, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday in Rockford Memorial hospital, where he has been a patient since Jan. 3 of this year.
He was born in Flora township Oct. 6, 1891, the son of George W. and Elva Brown Banks. He waqs married to Hattie Bressler of Monroe Center June 28, 1916. She died in 1930. He later was married to Lena Hein of Lincoln, Neb., who was employed in the Kirkland bank. That marriage took place July 14, 1932.
Gerson Banks was a member of the Methodist church, the Boyd D. Masonic lodge and the Freeport Consistory.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Fuller of Lincoln, Ill., Mrs. Marian Deifenthaler of Glen Ellyn and Mrs. Doris Prindiville of Roselle; five grandchildren and four brothers, Herman of Los Angeles, Calif, Alfred of Belvidere, Edward of Kirkland and Ray of Cherry Valley. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Kirkland Methodist church by the Rev. Richard Harding. Masonic rites will be given. Burial will be in the Flora cemetery.
Friends may call at the Vrba chapel in Kirkland Sunday noon.
