Harold L. Crider, 76, of 3315 Guilford Springs Road, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24,1999, in ManorCare Health Services, where he resided for several weeks.Born Sept. 27, 1922, near Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Frederick and Florence Hock Crider.He was a charter member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, where he had been board chairman and chairman of the trustees.A 1941 graduate of Chambersburg High School, he was a self employed dairy farmer. Prior to farming, he was a salesman at the former Chambersburg Ford. He also sold cars for a brief time at Forrester's Lincoln-Mercury, during his early years in farming.Mr. Crider also was a member of Franklin County Farm Bureau, was a former president of the 4-H Dairy Council and served on the local county board of Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA).Surviving are his wife, Esther J. Alleman Crider, whom he married July 22, 1951; three sons, Ronald E., Dennis H. and John G., all of Chambersburg; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Robert L.) Fagan of McVeytown and Carla (Mrs. James F.)
