John Hoffman Leisher

John Hoffman Leisher learned the trade of his father, blacksmith, Sept. 14, 1862 he enlisted in Co. D, 126th Pa. Volunteers, discharged 1864 for disability; reenlisted the same year with the 210th Pa. Volunteer infantry, participated in Five Forks and Gravely Run battles, discharged at Arlington Heights, Va. May 30, 1865
The son of David Minnich & Anna Mary (Burkholder) Lesher, in 1860 he was a blacksmith living in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 5" tall and had dark hair and hazel eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Chambersburg September 9, 1864, as a sergeant with Co. D, 210th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.
He married Sarah C. Zarger and fathered David E. (b. @1868), John M. D. (b. @1870), Benjamin G. (b. @1872), Bertha M. (b. 03/06/75 - married Peter Corl Ott), Jennett H. (b. @1877), and Martin L. (b. @1879). Sarah died in 1883, and he married Catharine Ann "Kate" Hepfer, fathering Harry Braillier (b. 03/22/86), Charles Clyde (b. 03/01/88), Sarah Rebekah (b. 12/20/91), Samuel Irvin (b. 01/23/93), and Laura Marie (b. 01/31/98 - married Boyd Allen McKee)
