Jacob was married near Hagerstown, IN 11-2-1845 to Elizabeth SCHMUCK and they traveled to Lancaster Twp., Huntington Co., IN during their honeymoon. They traveled in a big wagon thru the forest and Elizabeth drove the wagon while he went ahead with an ax and cleared the road. He was a devoted member of the church of the Brethren and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was of a generous disposition and was always ready to give his best to the poor and needy. He died January 15,1862 and is buried in Lancaster Cem., Huntington Co., IN.
