George DILLING

(20 NOV 1820 - 8 DEC 1877)

. He was prospering when it became necessary for him to pay a note for several thousand dollars which he had cosigned for one of his brothers. This took all his money and in 1856 he moved his family in a wagon to a farm three miles east of Urbana, Il. Finances were very tight but everyone worked and they were highly respected in the neighborhood. Crops matured and five years later George purchased a farm two miles further east where he erected a fine home and a large bank barn similar to the one his father had built near Hagerstown. He died of fever December 8, 1877 and is buried in the French cemetary about three miles west of Cerro Gordo, IL.
