Melvin T. KEITH HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Melvin Thomas "Red" KEITH, 82, of North Hess Road, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born July 13, 1919, in Woodvale, Pa., he was the son of the late Russell and Effie Fix KEITH. He was formerly a coal miner in the Broad Top area, and later worked as a carpenter on heavy construction. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific aboard the USS Pasadena and the USS Benevolence from 1944 to 1946. He attended Hustontown Church of God, North Clear Ridge Road, Hustontown. He was a member of the Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co., Carpenter's Union Local 2274 in Pittsburgh, and Madden-Wennick Post 518 American Legion in Orbisonia, Pa. He is survived by his wife, Almeda Brown KEITH, whom he married Oct. 21, 1939; a son, Himmel KEITH of Hustontown; three sisters, Helen SHEEDERS of Orbisonia, Elynor LONG of Baltimore and Madonna SMITH of Fayetteville, Pa.; a brother, Lloyd KEITH of Saltillo, Pa.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline HILL.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown. Pastor John Warner and Pastor Lanny Hoover will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Harrisonville, Pa., where the Fulton Honor Guard will conduct a memorial service on Sunday. Friends may also call at the funeral home today from 2 to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
