Margaret E. Sollenberger, 83, recently of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Williamsburg RR 2, entered into God's eternal care Thursday morning at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness.
She was born near Williamsburg, daughter of the late Paul A. Sr. and Ruth E. (Allison) Brumbaugh. She married E. Cletus Sollenberger Oct. 23, 1946, near Williamsburg.
Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years; three sons: David A. and wife, Mary, and Robert G. and wife, Lois, all of rural Williamsburg, and Ronald E. and wife, Elizabeth, of Gettysburg; a daughter, Karen Mogle and husband, Timothy, of Tyrone; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers: Paul A. Jr. and Mervin G., both of rural Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Pearl (Snowberger) Brumbaugh; a brother, Allison; a sister, Thelma Baker; and two granddaughters, Crystal and Virginia Sollenberger.
Mrs. Sollenberger was a lifelong and very active member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg, where she was a member of the women's fellowship and was appointed a lifetime deaconess in 1979.
She retired from U.S. Envelope, Williamsburg, in 1987 after almost 23 years of service. She was a 1945 graduate of Williamsburg High School.
She was a devoted farm wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Fairview Church of the Brethren with Adam D. Morgan, coordinator of ministry, officiating.
Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to Fairview Church of the Brethren's new sound system fund.
