Deceased Name: Loy L. BOWMAN
Loy Lee BOWMAN, 78, of Penn Laird, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his home.
Mr. BOWMAN was born March 5, 1925, in the Mill Creek area, and was a son of the late Thomas Isaac and Maggie Rodeffer BOWMAN.
He was a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren and retired as a mechanic from the Virginia Department of Highways. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
On March 23, 1947, he married the former Mary Ella GIBSON, who preceded him in death April 20, 1996.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda B. HUFFMAN of Port Republic; a brother, Jay J. BOWMAN of Port Republic; a sister, Hallie B. PENCE of Dayton and a granddaughter.
Roger B. Hart and the Rev. Olen B. Landes will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren near Port Republic. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kyger-Pence Funeral Home near McGaheysville. Friends may also call at the home of his daughter at any time.
