Death
Marie Mae Houser, 85 years, of Lewistown, passed away on Friday Jan. 31, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born on July 3, 1934, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late James W. Spearing and Marguerite (Lear) Spearing.
On March 1, 1956, she married her late husband John J. Houser with whom she was blessed to share over 44 years of marriage before his passing on March 12, 2000.
She is survived by daughters, Deborah M. Kerstetter and husband Gordon “Jeff” of Lewistown; Karen A. Evans and husband John “Pat” of Mifflintown; Colleen J. Kratzer and her husband Kris of McVeytown; six grandchildren, Gregory S. Kerstetter his wife Felisa; Alan J. Kerstetter and his wife Jackie; Jacob M. Kerstetter; Amanda J .Evans Foltz and her husband Michael; J. Evans ,Jordan M. Kratzer; six great-grandchildren,, Logan S. Kerstetter; Connor J. Kerstetter, Blake Colyer; Zoey A Foltz; Lucas M. Foltz; and sister, Joyce A. Wray and husband Dale.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Alex J. Kratzer and her brothers, Hershel; James; Charles; Lester; Robert; Thomas; Kenneth; and sister Edith R. Laughlin.
Earlier in life she was employed by White Shield in Lewistown and Valley Street Minit Mart. She retired from JC Penney’s in sales.
Marie loved going places with Aunt Marguerite, sitting out back on her swing, reading, coloring and watching TV. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Arrangements are under the care of Barr Funeral Home, Inc, and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
A Celebration of Marie’s life will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
