Death
Harry D. Richard , 90, of Port Republic, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the day.
Mr. Richard was born April 20, 1918, near Lewistown, Pa., and was the son of the late John William and Nancy Sovilla Richard .
He was a member of the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon. He was co-owner of Richard Greenhouse and Plant Nursery and was the retired parts manager of Myers' Ford Company, where he had been employed since 1955. He served for four years in the Civilian Public Service during World War II.
On April 10, 1948, he married the former Eva McCary, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Eugene Richard of Bridgewater; four daughters, Frances Eileen Adams of Harrisonburg, Yvonne Nancy Hannah of Canton, N.C., Connie Faye Bowsher of Nicholasville, Ky., and Noma Jean Smith of McGaheysville; two brothers, Elwood Richard and Norman Richard , both of Lewistown, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
