Robert Lee Jones, 81, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday (February 3, 2008) at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
He was born on April 4, 1926 in North Salem, son of the late Raymond L. Jones and Pearl M. (Walkenspauw) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a former police officer for the City of Cambridge. He retired from Titan Energy Corporation, where he had been the owner. He was also the owner of the Heritage Court Apartments of Cambridge.
He was a graduate of Cambridge High School and Cambridge Business College. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 66 F. & A.M., American Legion Post, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie # 386 and a lifetime member of the Buffalo VFW Post # 8040.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, having served during World War II in Germany and France. He received the rank of Corporal for his service.
He leaves a daughter, Bobbie Sue Hunt of Cambridge; two sons, Dennis (& Kathy) Jones of Winter Garden FL and Ed Jones of Cambridge; two brothers, William (& RoJean) Jones of Springfield and Donald (& Mary) Jones of Canton; two sisters, Norma Jean Castor of St. Simons Island GA and Carol (& Vernon) Penwell of Brunswick GA; five grandchildren, Scott (& Jodie) Jones, Todd (& Nicole) Jones, Shelly Jones, Carie Milligan and Joseph Hunt II; eight great-grandchildren; and his close friend & caregiver, Glenda Biss of Cambridge.
Family and friends may call on Thursday (February 7, 2008) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating.
Burial will be at North Salem Community Cemetery.
