Virginia received her BS from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1943, her MA from Columbia University in 1945, and earned a Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland in 1972. Joseph and Virginia established their home in Towson, MD where she was a secondary teacher in English and later school librarian. She was vice president of Alpha Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma in 1982.
