Birth
Actually it was Pennsylvania but both he and his brother, William born 1783, show Virginia as their place of birth in later census records as at that time Virginia was claiming that portion of Pennsylvania and it was not until the settlement of the Mason/Dixon line in 1784 that it became solely Pennsylvania.Endnotes
