It is said that Iona married George Dorcas of Salem, Oregon and that George
left when the children were small because he didn't want to see the children
starve to death. Iona and the children moved to Portland, Oregon and worked
as a chocolate dipper. Later she moved back to Salem and lived in a home
maintained by the Macabees Insurance Company. Iona was known as "Ione"
