Individual Details
Leslie Shockley
(22 Nov 1880 - 10 Feb 1973)
Leslie was known as "Les" & SSDI records list his name as Lesley. He was a
tall man, maybe 6' 4" tall. He was a kind man. He couldn't read, but he
could sure figure, when it came to adding money, he was the best. He once
tried to drive a car, but got to the coner where the tobacco field was & said
"Whoooo!" But the car wouldn't Whoooo. He never drove a car after that. He'd
drive his tractor, & his pair of horses (Dan & Nell), but no cars. He'd walk
to the Jones store if he needed something, if he couldn't get a ride to town.
