In about March 1883. James Woods & his wife Polly had parted about one year
earlier & Polly went to live with Reed, her son-in-law. Woods went to Reed's
& hid out behind the meat house. The dog discovered him there, & sounded the
alarm. Then Woods' wife went out to see what was the cause of the disturbance.
Polly rushed to the house with her husband running behind. Woods went into
the house behind her with a cocked barreled shot gun in his hands. Reed's wife
seized Woods gun. Reed ended up shuting Woods in the right side killing him.
