John was listed in the 1870 Census living with Abraham, his father.How e v er, we see a John, age 16, living with William Carothers, listed asa d o m estic servant. It seems possible that he was counted twice. Thefirst c o u nt June 15 with Cruthers and the second count June 27 withAbraham. Ab r a ham's two other children, Samuel and Mary, were listed underdifferent f a m ilies as domestic servants then. To date, no other John hasbeen ident i f ied whose age is close to 16-18. John died between 1930 and 1940. A c c ording to hearsay, he was 96. He isnot found in the 1920 Census.
