Served as a private in the War of 1812 against Great Britain. Enlisted about September 1, 1814, drafted for three months (served complete term) in Charlotte County, Virginia in the 4'th Regiment, Virginia Militia under Captain Bullington, commanded by Colonel W. C. Greenhill. They marched to Richmond, Virginia and were attached to Captain Meley's Company from Halifax County, Virginia, transfered to Captain A. P. Richardson's Company, transfered to Capain Bullington's Company from Pittsylvania County, Virginia and was discharged at Elliotes Mill, Maryland on December 2, 1814.

His bounty warrant file number (NNRG) 55-120-46151 and bounty warrant numbers 46,151 for 120 acres of land and number 89,179 for 40 acres of land. He has no pension file number.
