Jerman Jeduthan "German" WINGO Sr.
(17 Aug 1807 - 28 Dec 1873)
Jerman Wingo came to what is now known as Graves County, Kentucky in 1825 )maybe 1835) at the age of 18. He settled on a site which became known as Point Curve then later Wingo Station in honor of Mr. Wingo after the first railroad came through the land in 1854 and was eventually shortened to Wingo. Jerman built the town's first general store and saloon . Jerman owned several slaves and many took his name and were willed land when he died.

DB 45, p. 504 Thomas Dodson of Halifax County, Virginia, died leaving a will and conditionally leaving a legacy to his granddaughter but if the said Eliza T. Dodson died without issue the legacy would to to the surviving children of Thomas Dodson. She married Booker James and died without issue. Dodson Puckett one of the revisionary legatees brought suit for property from Booker James, court ordered division equally among revisionary legatees. Frances Slayden, formerly Frances Dodson, one of the children of Thomas Dodson, and entitled to one seventh part of the legacy. She with her husband, Tolbert Slayden, residing in Graves County, Kentucky, appoint Jerman I. In 1850 Jerman owned 1800 acres of land and farmed. in 1870 Jerman owned two tracks of land containing 8,000 and 4,000 acres respecively. The Point Curve Post Office was established on January 22, 1861 with Theophilus Wingo as Postmaster, on June 12, 1862 the name was changed to Wingos Station and Jerman J. Wingo was Postmaster and finally the name was changed to Wingo on November 29,1882 with Albert C. Grisson being Postmaster.

A 1939 newspaper article states that Wingo, Kentucky was named for Jerman Judethan Wingo and most residents of the area are descendents of the Wingo or Beadles family.
