Stephen Obediah WINGO Sr.
(14 Apr 1824 - Aft 1898)
NOTE:
I placed Steven Obediah under Thomas for convenience. He could be a son of Thomas, Robert, William O., Obediah W. or another of Obediah Wingo's sons or maybe a grandson. You tell me. I do not think that Simpson C. Wingo was his father.
Stephen Obediah Wingo may have been a country doctor. He was called up during the Civil War for a short time and may have been associated with Colonel Thomas Rudd Wingo, Senior Field Surgeon, 27'th Infantry, Army of Tennessee, C. S. A. during the Atlanta Campaign. A picture of the two Wingo's (needs documentation) was taken at a field hospital near Atlanta during the war. He was a Baptist.
I hope you will add sources to our correct research, find my errors and add additional materials to this database. Any and all mistakes are my fault and I need your help to correct them. Please use GenForum for comments and send corrections and additions to wingoinfo@gmail.com.

NOTE: Some think the Simpson C. Wingo was the father of Stephen Obediah Wingo but I have found no proof. I do believe that Stephen Obediah is probably a grandson of Obediah Wingo of Spartanburg County, SC. He was raised in the household of Moses and Sarah Adline Lanier Cruse according to the pension file of Robert Sampson Wingo (probably with Moses's father Stephen Cruce). Stephen Obediah Wingo received a 25% childs share from the estate of Stephen Cruse in Gwinnett County, GA. Also, Stephen Cruce and William Obediah Wingo lived near each other in Spartanburg County, SC before both families moved to Georgia (Gwinnett and Hall Counties). Maybe S. O. Wingo's mother was a Stone, Cruse, Leigan or Lanier. We meed help here.
William Obediah Wingo had a brother Thomas but I have found no records for him after 1824 in Spartanburg County, SC. There also was his half brothers Robert Ligon Wingo and Obediah W. Wingo. They were not in the Spartanburg area when their mother died but returned for Robert to probate his mother's will (Obedience Ligon, second wife of Obediah Wingo). Robert probably married while in Spartanburg and then moved to Franklin County, AL. He married a Cook but her mother was a Ligon. Obediah W. and his six (6) sisters moved to Campbell (now part of Fulton) County, Georgia soon after the will was probated.
Sarah Adline Lanier Cruse (wife of Moses) moved to Texas in the fall of 1881.
