"Herman Wingo
Mr. Herman Wingo, age 82, of Columbus, Mississippi, died Wednesday, November 15, 1989 at West Point Nursing Home, West Point, Mississippi.
Mr. Wingo was born in Lamar County, Alabama on January 13, 1907. He was the son of Birdie and Calvin Wingo. He lived in Columbus, Mississippi since 1936 and was a retired production manger with Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. He was a licensed electrician and did electrical work part time. He was an avid fisherman, a member of East Columbus Church of Christ and Woodmen of the World.
Funeral services wee held Friday, November 17th at 2 p. m. from the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Home in Columbus, MS with Joe Shyne officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fayne Wingo of Columbus, Mississippi; two sons, Donald Wingo of Springfield, Tennessee and Davis Wingo of Brandon, Mississippi; Two brothers, Avery Wingo and Newman Smith, both of Steens, Mississippi; four grandsons, Lance Johnson, Davis H. Wingo, II, Shane Wingo; one granddaughter, Katie Wingo.
Active pallbears were Lance Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Davis H. Wingo, II, Shane Wingo, Sonny Shelton, and Lynn Johnson. Honorary pallbears included Gary Hanson, John Fitch, O. C. Logan, Alton Honnoll, Bill Westbrook, Clyde Hollis, Elton Barham, Jay McCrary and men of East Columbus Church of Christ."
