Sarah Alice VOLK

(23 Nov 1873 - 1914)

" Sarah Alice (Volk) Wingo died in 1914 in Clarks, LA. Wood Wingo then packed all 5 children's clothes into a steamer trunk, put a name tag on each child and addressed a letter to Emma Seidel in Chillicothe, Missouri and gave it to the children to be delivered to the station manager at the train station upon their arrival in Chillicothe.
Imagine the suprise of Emma Seidel when she arrived at the train station and found five children with a trunk full of clothes. Glen - 11 years, Roberta - 9 years, Cecil - 7 years, Raynond - 5 years, Marguerette - 3 years. Emma Sleidel could not keep all of these children. John Henry and Rachel Volk took Cecil and Roberta. Glen lived with Mart and Elizabeth Volk Young. William and Mima Volk took Margarette. Raymond stayed with Emma Volk Seidel until he was 16 then he ran away with Elver Seidel's dog. They found him in the State of Kansas. He was allowed to stay with a family in Kansas.
Glen was finally sent to live with John L. and Bertha Volk Smith in Iola, Kansas. He then lived with them until they returned to Missouri to live. Roberta lived with a family by the name of Adams.
Wood Wingo disserted his five children. They never heard from him again until a few years before he died in the State of Kansas in 1938." Needs Source.
