John Nunne. Witnessed by us David Prichard. Edmond Smith.

Peter Mills is referred to as "friend" in John Shircliffe's will written in 2 Dec 1661. Mary is referred to as "goddaughter, Mary Mills" in Richard Willan's will written in 25 Oct 1662, giving the window for her marriage date to Peter Mills as between these two dates.

In 1707 Mary Dant appears as possessor of 50 acres of the plantation called Poplar Neck in New Towne Hundred, 200 acres surveyed 25 Nov 1642 for William Brough whose estate was left to his wife Sarah in his will of 1651 (MCW 1.6). Two Thomas Cecils each owned 50 acres of Poplar Neck, James and William Cecil possessed 25 acres each.
An undated rent roll shows that 50 acres of Popular Neck was purchased 7 Jun 1709 by William Dant from Charles Dant and Elizabeth his wife; the will of William Dant, planter of St Mary's Co. written 31 Jan 1714 leaves Poplar Neck and Annstrode to his cousins John Dant and William Mills; the will also calls Peter Mills "brother" and makes him executor of the will; also mentions John Mills and Peter Mills, Jr. (MCW 4.68).(EFSM, Vol 3, p. 243)

"Anstruther", 30 ac., surveyed 4/29/1667 for Peter Miles (should be Mills) joining to Shercliffe's land. Possessor: Mary Dant.
6/7/1709: 32 ac. to William Dant from Charles Daft and wife, Elizabeth. (St Mary's County Rent Rolls, 1639-1771). NOTE: Charles Daft was the second husband of Elizabeth (Mills) Spinke.

I have come to the conclusion that Mary Shercliffe, daughter of John Shercliffe and Ann Spink was married twice, not thrice. I had married Mary Shercliffe off to John Cissell (d. 1698) because she was listed in the 1707 rent rolls as owning 25 ac. "Poplar Neck" along with the sons of John Cissell. John Cissell's wife was named Mary, but I just don't think she could have been Mary Shercliffe as she had to have been married to Thomas Dant by 1688 and she was still Mary Dant in 1707 and in 1712.

10/11/1712: Mary Dant(Dent) deposition states "... her father John Shircliffe her mother Ann Shircliffe her uncle Henry Spinke...". [CR:PC:881(MSA No.:SM1-2)]

Mary Dant gave a deposition on 11/22/1712 Mrs. Mary Dent, age about 65 stated that her father, John Shercliffe; her mother, Ann Shercliffe and her uncle, Henry Spink often said her father and uncle sold land to Edward Cotton (Chancery Records: PC#2:863).

Mary Shercliffe, daughter of John and Ann, and niece of Henry Spink, married 3rd Thomas Dant, not John Dent. In the MD Chancery Records (11/22/1712), not some transcriptions, it is clearly Dant. Thomas Dant was a witness to the signing of the Henry Cissell will in 1698. Also, in the 1707 rent rolls, please note that it is clearly Mary Dant; you can particularly note this in the former Cissell properties, which are divided between the 3 Cissell sons and Mary Dant, who was the widow of John Cissell.
One of the big difficulties in untangling the Dants and the Dents (who were much more numerous), are the large number of transcription errors that have been made. One check is that the Dants were Catholic and the Dents were Protestant. There have been numerous reports that a John Dant married Rebecca Wilkinson -- he was a Dent, not a Dant. Examining the pages in the MD Archives usually clarifies this.
The Dants are intermarried with the Shercliffes, Mills, Heards, Goughs, Greenwells, Mannings, Mattinglys, etc., all predominantly Catholic families. I don't think you will find these families intermarried much with the Dents, if at all.

Where Mary Shircliff supposedly died at St Clement's Bay, MD is maybe 5 miles due west of White Point Beach on the north shore of the Potomac River in present day St Mary's Co, MD. It is on my Rand Mcnally roadmap.
