Thomas Cissell
(1664 - Bef 28 Mar 1701)
Thomas is mentioned in the will of his father, John Cissell, dated 28 April 1694.
Thomas' will mentions only his son John and brother James. He does refer to a
wife but does not give her name. Copy of will in file. Liber PC 1 pg 289-290
(FHL 14424).
In Mary Louise Donnelly's book "Colonial Settler's, St. Clements Bay" Thomas' will is said to have been written 10/18/1700 an it was probated on 3/28/1701 (11:68). He willed all of his land "to the Child my wife goes with" to the said child and the heirs of its body lawfully begotten." His land had been"White Acre" which he had recieved from his father. If the child to be born died, his land was to go to Betty Thompson his stepdaughter (called daughter in law in record).. Thomas also left legacy to his other step children from Mary French Thompson's first marriage to Robert; they were George and James. James French was named as his overseer of the will. On 5/21/1702 his widow, Mrs. Mary Cissell, administered his estate, valued at l56.19.10 (inv. 20:109). James French acted as one of the approvers of the estate-next of kin (acct 21:367). Mrs. Mary Cissell the widow of Thomas married thirdly Charles Daft.

Elise Greenup Jourdan claims that this Thomas was transported into Md as an indentured servant of Jon. Stevenson.
This Thomas was transported to the Province of MD as an indentured servant of Jon. Stevenson. Stevenson assigned his land rights for the transporting of 14 servants including Thomas on 1 Dec 1675 to Benjamin Boser on 19 Jun 1676 (Liber 15, folio 353-Newman). No land patent was located for him.
After 1 Nov 1697 he married Mary, widow of Robert Thompson, late of SMC (Inv & Accts, Liber 15, folio 215, Newman)

Sissell, Thomas, St Mary's County, 18th Oct., 1700; 28th Mar., 1701.To unborn child and hrs., all land. In event of its death without hrs. estate to pass as follows:
To daughter-in-law Betty [Thompson], plantation; to pass in turn to son-in-law George [Thompson]-.
To son-in-law James Thompson, residue of land.
To wife Mary, extx., personalty and life interest in land she may choose.
