Edward Glover Doerges

Edward DOERGES lived the last eight years of his life in Sonora, CA where he operated a janitorial business. His sister, Dody, lived about 10 miles away in Twain Harte, but never knew Edward was living nearby. It was not until Walt WEIS, Dorthis Ruth (Doerges) WEIS' son, read of Edward's death in the local newspaper that Dody knew Edward had lived in Sonora. Apparently there had been a feud between Edward's wife, Aileen (Bone) DOERGES, and Dody in 1947, and the two had avoided each other since.

Marriage
A marriage record for Edward Glover DOERGES (age 24) and Aileen Belle BREWER (age 23) in St. George, Washington, UT on 11 Jul 1938 was found online on 14 Jan 2013. It was part of the Western States Marriage Record Index in the Special Collections & Family History in the BYU Idaho Special Collections, McKay Library 240A, Rexburg, ID 83460.It might be assumed that the children born to Edward and Aileen prior to 1938 [Edwin and Robert] were born out of wedlock. I can not explain, though, the change in Aileen's surname from Brewer to Bone.

Edward Glover DOERGESApr 17, 1914 - Jun 11, 1994
Edward Glover Doerges died Saturday at the Sonora Hospital. He was 80. Mr. Doerges was born in Lompoc, Santa Barbara county, and had lived in Sonora for eight years. He was self-employed in janitorial services for three years. He leaves no known survivors. No services have been planned. Cremation will take place and the ashes scattered at sea. Heuton Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
