Lloyd WEED rites to be WednesdayRequiem high Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church for Lloyd W. Weed, 74, who died Monday at his home at 915 3rd SW.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Arthur J. Breen, pastor of Holy Family, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph section of Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Major Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Weed was born Sept 24, 1894, in Mason City, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Weed. He was married Oct 24, 1921, at Cedar Rapids to Celia C. Prazak.
After service with the U.S. Army during World War I, he was associated with his brother, Albert, in Weed's Pharmacy on North Fede4ral Avenue. In the late 30s and early 40s, he worked for Bordens. In more recent years, he was employed at the Hotel Hanford.
Mr. Weed was a member of Holy Family Church, the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dick Weed, Renwick, and Robert Weed, Taylorville, Illinois; a brother, Claude Weed, California; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Pearl) Goodman, California, and Mrs. Henry (Hazel) Gunderson, Mesa, Arizona, and by two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister and two brothers.
