Roy Talbot Romine It's time to celebrate the life well lived by Roy Talbot Romine 85, who sailed from this world on Tuesday, March 7, 2006.His greatest adventures in addition to raising four daughters included years of traveling and living with his wife Carol on their boats "Syn or Sym" and "Morning Wings".Starting from South Haven Michigan, some of their favorite destinations included Scituate, Massachusetts; Cape Town, South Africa; Trinidad, West Indies; St. Thomas USVI; and St. Augustine, Florida.They also enjoyed frequent visits throughout the United States for births, weddings, graduations and other family gatherings.He was everyone's friend, always ready with a story and a helping hand. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Robert Talbot and Mary Colgan Romine, Roy attended Tilton School, class of 38, served in the US Navy in WWII and graduated from the University of Michigan.Class of 1948 as a Mechanical Engineer.He established RTR Associates in 1970 and retired in 1986. Roy served on the board of Directors for the Seven Seas Cruising Association and was active in the Hoosier Power Squadron.He enjoyed square dancing, and was a member of Masonic Lodge #270 Southport Lodge, and Southport United Methodist Church. Roy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Crandall Romine; four daughters:Wendy Homan (Bill) of Plainfield, Linda Bertram (Bob) of Bellingham, Washington, Lucy Romine (Bob Furr) of Omaha, Nebraska and Karen O'Conner (Don Miller) of Indianapolis; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, March 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a farewell service at 7:30 p.m. in Hall -Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, 339 East Main Street, Plainfield, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tilton School, Tilton NH, 03276 or to the charity of your choice.
