Individual Details
Ransome Cockeril Meredith
(5 Dec 1872 - 7 Mar 1952)
"Jake Vanmeter and Rance Meredith...had a long-standing feud (no one seems to know why.) At any rate, the feud came to an abrupt end in 1904 in front of the General Store at Bee Springs when Rance put two pistol slugs into Jake's upper body. He died a short time later in the house of his brother Jackson Vanmeter."
Rance Cockeril Meredith was never arrested or tried for the death of Jake Meredith. According to witnesses, it was a fair fight. Because Jake had sworn he would kill Rance's brother, Rance went to stop Jake. When Jake came after him, R. C. did what he had to do in order to stop Jake.
Died from a stroke at 79.
