Notes

Birth

Various New Zealand WILLIAMS family authors, and many internet genealogists have repeatedly stated that Marianne's birth was in Yorkshire - that is incorrect! She was born in Norwich, and christened at Octagon-Presbyterian, Norwich 28th December 1793. Her family were NOT from Yorkshire, (nor from London as sometimes written) - they were from Norwich.

Residence

Her home, first a raupo hut with no kitchen, then two mud cottages, and finally a wooden house with several adjacent buildings. They were described as "elastic dependencies" and served as refuge, hospital, hostel, church, school, and official residence, and was later known affectionately as "Williams' Hotel".
