Death
Was killed in a plane crash. He was the pilot, and flew in to the sideof the hills at Paraparaumu in foggy weather.
Plane recovered
Lockheed Lodestar ZK-AHX Kereru has made it out of the bush, 39 years after it crashed into the Waikanae hills on its way to Paraparaumu. The civilian plane, crashed in March 1949, killing two crew and 13 passengers. It was recovered by the air force's Shelly Bay contingency force.
