Notes
Birth
There is some anomoly with the date of her birth, considering herfather never arrived in New Zealand until December 1853.
One suggestion given is that Eliza is not a daughter but a ward of
Adam James DICKEY.
One other suggestion is that Eliza may be the child of Raihi (Eliza)
PENAINA and a Mr HAMILTON who may have been an earlier husband. (see
death note for Raihi PENAINA)
Emigration
Eliza was sent to Australia because of pregnancy, and bore Fanny in1876.
A memory of Aunt Majorie suggests that Eliza had earlier married
beneath the DICKEY status and that her father had the marriage
annulled and sent her to Australia.
