George Eburah COOK

George Cook designed and built a bridge in Maryborough, and there is a plaque there with his name on it. He also worked on railways, buildings and sewerage works. When he married Ethel May Page Hanify in 1883 at Bega, in south-east New South Wales, his address was the Department of Roads and Bridges, Sydney.

Extract from the New South Wales Police Gazette, dated 23 June 1886, page 191:Sydney. – A warrant has been issued by the central police bench for the arrest of George Eburah Bush, charged that he did, on or about the 9th September last, being then employed in the public service at Lithgow, as a superintendent of roads and bridges, did embezzle the sum of £34 19s. 6d., the property of the New South Wales government. He is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, slender build, brown hair, light moustache, shaved on chin, light blue eyes.
