Jonathan ALFORD

(27 Jul 1879 - 20 Nov 1899)

Twin of Thomas. Death certificate says born at Modewarre.

Peter Alford says: The story goes my father said that his mother (Wilhemina) told a story that Jonathan had passed away after killing a beast on the morning of his 21st birthday and was gone that same afternoon (but the dates don't run true to that story).

Further, Peter says: "Just a story about Jonathan's death I spoke to a fella at the records centre in North Melbourne one day about three weeks ago and he was researching the Bath/Alford families and I told him the same story as I have told you (the only one that I know that might be somewhere near what happened) and the next thing I become aware of is that Jonathan "died of food poisoning after eating meat from a diseased animal on his 21st birthday" the reason that he had died was never spoken about. I know from what I have experience in my time is that you can pick-up strange things when you start killing animals."
