John MASSICKS

(Ca 1830 - 16 May 1852)

John died of Scarletina. It is now called scarlet fever and if not treated by antibiotics can turn to rheumatic fever, strep infections in the blood, etc very serious.


Gravestone inscription:
THE RESURRECTION AND LIFE -
THOMAS MASSICKS OF CHURCH HOUSE, TORVER DEPARTED THIS LIFE
APRIL 11th 1852 AGED 52yrs. HE WAS AN AFFECTIONATE HUSBAND, KIND
PARENT OF HONEST WORTH AND UPRIGHT INTEGRITY.
ALSO -
JOHN HIS ELDEST SON WHOSE SOUL RETURNED TO HIM THAT GAVE IT
MAY 16th 1852 IN THE 22nd YEAR OF HIS AGE. HE WAS A YOUNG MAN OF
GREAT PROMISE. IN LIFE BELOVED, IN DEATH LAMENTED.
ALSO -
ISAAC, SON OF THE ABOVE THOMAS MASSICKS WHO DIED MAY 12th 1866
aged 31 years.
