STRANGE ACCIDENT.Mr Thomas Welch, of Mollison street, Kyneton, narrowly escaped being seriously burned yesterday. He was suffering from cold, and learning that "throat tabloids" were a certain cure, he purchased a box, out of which be took half a dozen, and placed them in his trousers pocket, where he had a box of safety matches; the tablets rubbed against the rough striking face of the box, and immediately exploded with a great noise, a flame shot out of the band of his trousers half a foot in length. Fortunately he was in company at the time, and, with assistance, extinguished the burning garment, receiving slight injuries to the hand.
